Maharashtra Weather Update: Red Alert for Raigad and Pune Ghats on September 28, Heavy Rain Likely Across State Till September 30
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple alerts for Maharashtra, with Raigad and the Ghats of Pune placed under a red alert on September 28 for extremely heavy rainfall. Other regions, including the Ghats of Nashik, Satara, and Kolhapur, are also under orange alerts, signalling widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next three days.
Konkan Division
- Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg: Heavy to very heavy rainfall likely on 27–29 Sept (orange alert), easing to yellow alert on 30 Sept.
- Raigad: Red alert on 28 Sept for extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. Orange alert on 27 and 29 Sept, yellow on 30 Sept.
Nashik Division
- Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon: Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall till 28 Sept.
- Ghats of Nashik: Heavy to very heavy rainfall on 28 and 29 Sept (orange alert). Moderate showers on 30 Sept.
Pune Division
- Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Sholapur: Heavy rainfall likely on 27–28 Sept.
- Ghats of Pune: Red alert on 28 Sept for extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. Orange alert on 27 and 29 Sept. Yellow alert on 30 Sept.
- Ghats of Satara and Kolhapur: Orange alert (heavy to very heavy rain) on 28–29 Sept.
Marathwada (Aurangabad Division)
- Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv: Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms likely till 28 Sept.
- Nanded and Latur: Isolated very heavy showers on 27 Sept. Rainfall easing after 29 Sept.
Vidarbha (Nagpur & Amravati Divisions)
- Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Buldhana: Thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places through 27–29 Sept.
- Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Washim, Buldhana: Heavy rainfall possible on 27 Sept.
- Activity reduces after 29 Sept, with “no warning” for most districts on 30 Sept.

Precautions and Advisories
The IMD has cautioned about flooding in low-lying areas, landslides in the Ghats, and waterlogging in cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik. Farmers in Marathwada and western Maharashtra are advised to secure harvested crops and protect young plants. Residents in Raigad and Pune Ghats should stay alert on September 28 when extremely heavy rainfall is expected.
