Pune, May 28, 2025 – After days of rough weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has shifted rain alerts to lesser severity for Pune and several other districts in Maharashtra. While thunderstorms, gusty winds, and rainfall are still expected across the state, the intensity is expected to reduce, bringing much-needed relief to residents.

For majority of districts in Maharashtra, IMD has brought down weather alert level from Orange to Yellow and from Yellow to Green.

Districts including Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, the Ghats of Satara, the Ghats of Kolhapur, and Gondia are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) are also expected.

Raigad, the Ghats of Pune, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal may receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 50 kmph.

Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, and Nanded will likely witness thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rainfall. Gusty winds (40–50 kmph) are expected in isolated areas.

Districts like Palghar, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Pune, Sholapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Ahilyanagar, Latur, and Dharashiv may see light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds (40–50 kmph).

Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli will likely experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph). While heavy rainfall is not expected, thunderstorm activity will remain significant.

🌦️ Light to Moderate Rainfall or Thundershowers Likely

Satara, Sangli, and Kolhapur are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers without major thunderstorm warnings.

Relief for Pune as Weather Conditions Improve

Pune, which had been experiencing severe weather over the past few days, is now expected to see light to moderate rainfall with reduced intensity. The IMD’s shift to lower severity alerts indicates improving conditions, though thunderstorms and gusty winds may persist in some areas.
