Maharashtra Weather Forecast till September 26: Heavy Rains Likely in Many Divisions
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh weather alerts for Maharashtra, valid till September 26. Several districts are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, while others may see thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds. Here’s a division-wise forecast for the coming days.
Konkan Division (Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg)
Districts across Konkan will continue to receive widespread rain. Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad are set for light to moderate showers with thunderstorms till September 24, followed by heavy spells on September 25 and 26. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are expected to face heavier impact. Ratnagiri is likely to see heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on September 25 and 26, while Sindhudurg may also get very heavy rain on September 26. Fishermen and coastal residents should stay alert due to rough sea conditions.
Pune Division (Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur)
Pune and its ghat areas are expected to receive thunderstorms with moderate rainfall through September 24. Heavy rainfall is likely in the ghats of Pune and Satara on September 25 and 26. Kolhapur ghats could see heavy to very heavy rain during the same period. Solapur and Sangli will mostly get moderate rain, but Sangli has a warning of heavy rain on September 23. Travelers on ghat routes should exercise caution.
Nashik Division (Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar, Ahmednagar)
This division is bracing for intense weather. Nashik, Jalgaon, and Ahmednagar are under a heavy to very heavy rainfall alert with thunderstorms and lightning. The ghats of Nashik are likely to see moderate rain from September 24 onward. Dhule and Nandurbar will mostly have light to moderate rain with occasional thunderstorms. Ahmednagar may again receive moderate rain by September 25.
Aurangabad Division (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Hingoli, Parbhani, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv)
Several districts here are facing extreme weather alerts. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed and Ahmednagar are under heavy to very heavy rainfall warning on September 22. Jalna, Hingoli, Parbhani and Dharashiv may get thunderstorms with heavy rainfall at isolated places in the early forecast days. Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv are expected to face heavy rainfall again on September 26. Farmers and residents are advised to take precautions against crop damage and waterlogging.
Amravati Division (Amravati, Akola, Washim, Buldhana, Yavatmal)
This region will mostly see thunderstorms with lightning over the next few days. Amravati and Akola are expected to receive heavy rainfall on September 26, while Buldhana, Washim and Yavatmal also have warnings for heavy rain around the same time. Till then, rainfall will remain scattered and moderate.
Nagpur Division (Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli)
Districts in Vidarbha are also expected to see active weather. Chandrapur and Gadchiroli are likely to witness heavy rainfall with thunderstorms on September 24 and 25. Gondia and Bhandara may get heavy rain on September 24. Nagpur and Wardha are expected to have thunderstorms with heavy rainfall on September 25. Chandrapur is under an extended warning for heavy rainfall till September 26.

Overall Outlook
Maharashtra will continue to face widespread rainfall activity till September 26. While Konkan and ghat regions will be the main focus of heavy to very heavy rain, Marathwada and Vidarbha too will have spells of intense rainfall. IMD has also warned of waterlogging, flash floods, and damage to standing crops.
