Maharashtra Weather Alert: IMD Issues Orange & Yellow Alerts for Heavy Rains (June 12-19) – District-Wise Forecast

PuneNow, June 12, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has escalated weather warnings across Maharashtra, issuing critical Orange and Yellow Alerts for multiple regions. The alert period covers June 12-19, with two intense rainfall phases expected.

🔴 Orange Alert: Extreme Weather Conditions in Western Maharashtra
The IMD has upgraded warnings to Orange Alert status for these high-risk districts:
- Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg (Konkan region)
- Kolhapur & Satara (including ghat sections)
Expected Impacts:
- Very heavy to extremely heavy rainfallÂ
- Severe thunderstorms with frequent lightning
- Dangerous gusty winds (50-60 kmph)
- High risk of landslides in ghat areas
“Residents in these districts must avoid all non-essential travel, especially through ghat sections which may experience landslides,” warned IMD officials.
🟡 Yellow Alert: Widespread Disruptions Across Central & Eastern Regions
A Yellow Alert covers nearly 80% of Maharashtra’s population centers, including:
Northern Maharashtra:
- Mumbai Metropolitan Region: Palghar, Thane, Mumbai
- North Maharashtra: Dhule, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar (Aurangabad)
Central Maharashtra:
- Pune, Solapur
- Marathwada: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv (Osmanabad)
Vidarbha Region:
- Nagpur Division: Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Bhandara, Gondia
- Amravati Division: Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Washim, Yavatmal
Expected Conditions:
- Moderate rainfallÂ

- Gusty winds (40-50 kmph)
