Maharashtra Gets New Governor: Acharya Devvrat Sworn in as 22nd Governor of the State
In a formal ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai today, Acharya Devvrat was sworn in as the 22nd Governor of Maharashtra. The event marks a new chapter in the state’s administrative leadership.
The oath was administered by the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, Justice Chandrashekhar, in the grand Darbar Hall of the Governor’s residence. In a distinctive and traditional touch, Acharya Devvrat chose to take the oath in Sanskrit.

The ceremony was attended by a host of prominent state dignitaries, reflecting the significance of the occasion. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were present to congratulate the new Governor, presenting him with bouquets after the swearing-in.
The event also saw the attendance of a wide cross-section of the state’s leadership, including Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, several state ministers, and senior government officials. Following the ceremony, the new Governor was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour, a traditional mark of respect for the constitutional head of the state.
