Maharashtra Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar gets three-month service extension

The Central Government has approved a three-month extension of service for Maharashtra Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar. His tenure, which was set to end on August 31, will now continue from September 1 to November 30, 2025.

The approval comes following a proposal submitted by the Maharashtra Government on August 28, 2025. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the order, confirming that Kumar, a 1988-batch IAS officer, will remain in office under Rule 16(1) of the AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958.

Rajesh Kumar has been serving as the state’s top bureaucrat, playing a key role in coordinating between the state and central administration. His continuation is expected to ensure stability in governance during this period.

The order has been circulated to the Chief Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister’s Office, and other concerned departments.
