A passenger travelling on the Vande Bharat Express recently shared a remarkable experience highlighting the efficiency of Indian Railways and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). Dr. Guru Bruno, an orthopaedic spine surgeon, posted on X (formerly Twitter) about how he accidentally left his wristwatch in the train restroom but got it back within 40 minutes of filing a complaint.

After reaching Egmore station at 11 pm, Dr. Bruno realised that he had forgotten his watch onboard. At 12:28 am, he lodged a complaint on the RailMadad website, providing his PNR, coach, and seat details. What followed was an impressive display of coordination between multiple railway departments.

Within three minutes, he received a call from the Railway Helpline confirming his complaint, followed by an SMS. At 12:49 am, the RPF called to inform him that the train had already gone to the yard but they had initiated a search. Just 23 minutes later, at 1:12 am, Dr. Bruno received photos of his watch on WhatsApp. A minute later, the RPF called again to confirm the recovery.

He collected his watch from the station the next morning after verifying his identity and submitting necessary documents. Dr. Bruno expressed deep appreciation for the Southern Railways and RPF staff, praising their dedication and efficiency.

“This is amazing work from all concerned. Within 40 minutes, in the middle of the night, so many people worked together to help me for something that was my own mistake,” he wrote.

He ended his post with a powerful message – “Keep calm and trust the government.”
