Xiaomi has just made a big splash in the Indian smartphone market with the launch of the Redmi 15 5G, priced starting at ₹14,999. The phone goes on sale from August 28 on Mi.com, Amazon, Mi Home stores, and select retail partners, and comes in three stylish shades: Frost White, Sandy Purple, and Midnight Black.

The Redmi 15 5G is built for those who want a mix of power, performance, and long battery life. Its dual rear camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor paired with a 2MP depth sensor, while the 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls. Xiaomi has also packed in AI features like AI Erase, Sky editing, and film filters. The rear cameras are protected by an aerospace-grade metal ring, making them more durable against drops and scratches.

Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 processor on a 6nm chip, designed to balance efficiency and performance for smooth daily use, gaming, and multitasking. The phone comes in three RAM and storage combinations: 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB. Virtual memory can expand RAM up to 16GB, and storage is UFS 2.2 with microSD support.

Battery life is a highlight here. The Redmi 15 5G houses a massive 7000mAh battery with Si-C technology, supporting 33W fast charging and 18W reverse charging to power other devices. Xiaomi claims the battery retains its health over years and can run for hours even at 1% in hibernation mode.

The 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD screen supports up to 144Hz AdaptiveSync, adjusting refresh rate for smoother visuals and battery savings. TÜV Rheinland certification reduces eye strain, and wet-touch support ensures the screen works even with damp fingers.

Despite packing a large battery, the phone is just 8.4mm thick and weighs 217 grams, thanks to its Royale Chrome design. It also has an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance. Audio and convenience features include Dolby stereo speakers, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, IR blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack, and NFC support in select regions.

The Redmi 15 5G runs Android 15 with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 out of the box. Xiaomi promises two years of Android updates and four years of security patches, alongside features like Circle to Search and Google Gemini AI support.

For anyone looking for a budget-friendly phone packed with modern features, a huge battery, and AI-powered cameras, the Redmi 15 5G is a strong contender. Its ability to even charge other devices makes it a practical choice for daily use.
