Mumbai/Pune, July 25, 2025: A landslide on the Mumbai-bound lane of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway near Amrutanjan Bridge in Bhor Ghat brought vehicular movement to a grinding halt on Friday evening. The incident, which occurred just as weekend travel was peaking, resulted in massive traffic congestion and long queues of stranded vehicles.

According to initial reports and visuals shared by commuters on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the landslide led to an estimated 10-kilometre-long traffic jam on the Mumbai-bound carriageway. The landslide reportedly blocked parts of the road, making it difficult for vehicles to pass, especially with the high volume of traffic heading towards Mumbai from Pune.

Several photos and videos posted by users showed halted vehicles, heavy machinery at work, and portions of the hill debris scattered across the expressway. Despite the seriousness of the incident, authorities confirmed that no injuries or damage to vehicles were reported. Quick response teams were seen arriving at the site to clear the debris and restore the flow of traffic.

The timing of the incident exacerbated the situation, as Friday evenings typically witness increased movement on the expressway due to weekend getaways. Commuters and tourists heading towards Mumbai were caught off guard, with many stuck for hours in their vehicles.

Traffic police and highway management teams were deployed to manage the chaos and divert traffic where necessary. Restoration work is currently underway, and updates are expected as the situation develops.

Motorists are advised to avoid the route temporarily or check for alternate travel options and live updates before embarking on their journey.
