The Motive Behind the Attack
The investigation uncovered a case of mistaken identity that led to the attack. Police officials stated that the assailants were allegedly instructed by a friend, a cab driver, to target another IT employee over a suspected love affair. When their intended target did not appear, they allegedly attacked the victim out of frustration after a long wait.
Fortunately, the victim’s condition is now stable, and he has been discharged from the hospital. The investigating officer noted that the attackers used the blunt side of the weapon, which prevented more severe injuries.
The incident has ignited anger and fear among local IT employees and residents. Zonal DCP Somay Munde confirmed that two people are detained and that the investigation is ongoing, with strict action promised.
