IndiGo Passengers Face Major Disruptions as Delays and Cancellations Hit Pune and Nagpur Routes
Pune, December 04, 2025: Passengers travelling on IndiGo flights from Pune and Nagpur had a difficult Tuesday, with long delays, sudden cancellations and poor communication leaving hundreds stranded. Many missed connecting flights, medical appointments, work commitments and exams as the airline struggled to manage operations across multiple routes.
At Pune Airport, early morning flights to Bengaluru, Delhi, Kochi and Agartala were delayed for hours before being cancelled without clear updates. Travellers described complete confusion at the terminal, with some even kept inside aircraft for hours before being told their flights would not operate.
Neha Mulay, who was booked on the 5.55 am Pune-Bengaluru flight, waited almost four hours only to learn that her flight had been cancelled. She missed two onward connections to Kochi because of the delay. Another passenger, Raviraj Kajave, said he and several others remained inside a boarded aircraft till 9.30 am before it was cancelled. He said no refreshments were provided.
Several passengers said they did not receive SMS alerts or announcements about cancellations. Others said they were given conflicting information by ground staff. A Pune-Delhi passenger, Alifiya Khan, said she waited five hours after being told her flight was cancelled, only to see it still marked as delayed on her phone. Another traveller, Jatin Batra, said there was no communication for hours before his flight was cancelled at 10 am.
Nagpur Airport saw similar scenes. Passengers travelling to Pune said they were repeatedly boarded and deboarded, and even made to wait inside airport coaches. Many alleged that flights were cancelled because of non-availability of pilots. One passenger said seniors in wheelchairs and infants were stranded without clear information. Another flyer, Samarth Awasthi, said his plane was boarded and then taken back to the gate due to the pilot’s flying hour limits.
Some passengers, including Dipayan B, only found out about cancellations after reaching the airport. Customer care lines were busy and helpdesk counters were overcrowded.
Many affected passengers said they were travelling for urgent reasons including medical treatment, job interviews and school exams. They said the lack of updates made the situation even more stressful.
With complaints rising, the disruptions have drawn the attention of the Civil Aviation Ministry and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
IndiGo issued a statement saying the airline had faced unavoidable delays and cancellations over the past few days due to technology issues, airport congestion and operational requirements. It said teams were working to restore normal operations and that affected passengers were being offered alternate flights or refunds. The airline also advised travellers to check flight status on its website before leaving for the airport.
