Indigo Air Hostess Molested by Drunk Male Passenger on Delhi-Shirdi Flight

Shirdi, May 4, 2025 — A shocking incident unfolded aboard IndiGo flight 6E 6403 from Delhi to Shirdi on Friday afternoon, as a drunk male passenger allegedly molested an air hostess mid-flight. The accused was arrested by the Rahata Police upon landing at Shirdi airport.
According to police officials, the passenger, identified as Sandeep Sumer Singh, a government employee from Churu in Rajasthan, behaved inappropriately with the air hostess near the toilet of the aircraft. The incident took place between 1:40 PM and 4:10 PM during the duration of the flight on May 2.
The air hostess, a native of Kochi, Kerala, was touched inappropriately twice by the intoxicated passenger. She immediately reported the matter to her crew manager, who then informed airport security upon landing. The airline staff filed a formal complaint with the Rahata Police Station, leading to the arrest of the accused.
Medical examination confirmed the presence of alcohol in the accused’s system. He was booked under relevant sections of the law related to molestation and public misconduct. An official statement from IndiGo Airlines regarding the incident is awaited.
This mid-air assault has raised concerns once again about crew safety and passenger behavior aboard domestic flights in India.
In a similar but unrelated incident last month, a hospital technician was arrested for sexually assaulting a flight attendant in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, Haryana. The victim was admitted on April 5 and alleged that on April 6, while she was on a ventilator, a hospital staff member sexually assaulted her. She also claimed that two nurses present in the ICU did not intervene.
The accused in the Medanta case, identified as Deepak, a 25-year-old from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, was arrested after an intensive four-day manhunt involving a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the review of over 800 CCTV footages.
Both incidents underline the urgent need for stronger institutional safeguards and swift legal action to protect women in vulnerable environments.
