Indian Railways has announced a record 380 Ganpati Special train trips for smooth festive travel in 2025
Indian Railways has announced that it will operate 380 Ganpati Special train trips this year, the highest ever planned for the festive season. These services aim to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for lakhs of devotees heading home or visiting Konkan during Ganpati Puja, which will be celebrated from 27 August to 6 September 2025.
In comparison, 305 special train trips were run in 2023, while 358 were added in 2024. The steady increase highlights the growing demand for travel during the festival.
The Central Railway will handle the bulk of this traffic with 296 trips, catering to the heavy rush from Mumbai, Pune, and other parts of Maharashtra towards Konkan. Western Railway will run 56 services, Konkan Railway (KRCL) 6 trips, and South Western Railway 22 trips.
The halts on Konkan Railway routes have been carefully planned, covering key stations including Kolad, Mangaon, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Sindhudurg, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon, Karwar, Kumta, Udupi, and Surathkal, among many others.
The special services began on 11 August and will continue through the festive period, with more trains being added as the festival nears. Passengers can check the detailed schedule on the IRCTC website, the RailOne app, or through computerized PRS counters.
With this year’s record number of Ganpati Special trains, Indian Railways has once again reinforced its role in making festive travel safer and more convenient for millions of passengers.
