India and Pakistan Agree to Cease All Military Action Across Land, Air, and Sea Effective 1700 Hrs on May 10

New Delhi/Islamabad, May 10: In a dramatic turn of events just 12 hours after India reportedly carried out strikes on eight Pakistani air bases, the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan initiated a call to his Indian counterpart at 3:35 PM today, leading to a mutual agreement on a full ceasefire across land, air, and sea.
The ceasefire took effect at 5:00 PM Indian Standard Time, following brief but intense backchannel discussions. As per sources, Pakistan’s DGMO requested India to enter into an understanding, which India accepted after high-level consultations. Both nations have since issued instructions to halt all military action in all domains.
According to India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, the two DGMOs will speak again on May 12 at 12:00 PM to assess the implementation of the ceasefire.

Adding to the significance of the development, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the ceasefire via social media, stating, “Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect. Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald J. Trump took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), claiming that the ceasefire followed a night of talks mediated by the United States. He posted:
“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”

India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.
While there has been no official confirmation from New Delhi on U.S. mediation, the swift turnaround points to intense diplomatic activity behind the scenes. No talks have been planned or agreed upon regarding any other issue or location, clarifying that this ceasefire is solely military in nature.
This unexpected de-escalation comes at a critical time and may offer a window of stability in the otherwise tense Indo-Pak military equation.
