Pune is on the verge of welcoming a first-of-its-kind IIM campus, with a twist. The state government has green-lit 70 acres of grazing land in Moshi, Pimpri-Chinchwad, for a new IIM-Nagpur satellite campus. This will be the first time an IIM launches its flagship programme in data science and management from a location beyond its main campus. The land transfer is expected to be finalised soon.

IIM-Nagpur’s director, Dr Bhimaraya Metri, says the new campus will mirror the infrastructure of the main 132-acre campus in Nagpur. They’re planning academic facilities, an incubation centre, and flexible courses for working professionals through part-time and weekend programmes.

What makes Moshi a standout choice? It sits close to major industrial and IT zones, Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon, and Hinjewadi. That makes it a prime pick for a programme focused on data science and management, bridging academia and industry.

You may recall that PuneNow had already reported this move when the branch was first approved. Their coverage noted how the new campus will bring top-tier educational opportunities to students and professionals in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.

This expansion isn’t just local ambition. IIM-Nagpur has plans to go further, eyeing future satellite campuses in Goa, Hyderabad, and even Singapore.
