Hyundai Creta Completes 10 Years in India with Over 1.2 Million Units Sold
Hyundai’s popular mid-size SUV, the Creta, has completed a significant milestone—10 years on Indian roads, with over 1.2 million units sold in the domestic market. Launched on July 21, 2015, the Hyundai Creta has not only become a household name but has also consistently dominated the mid-size SUV segment in India.
When it debuted a decade ago, the Creta entered a market with just three other players in its segment. Fast forward to 2025, the competition has swelled to 14 models, including strong contenders like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Tata Curvv, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Despite this, Creta has retained its top spot as the highest-selling SUV in its category every year since 2016.
Hyundai’s celebration message captures the emotional connect that the vehicle has built with Indian families:
“For 10 years, CRETA has been more than a car, it’s been part of growing families, spontaneous road trips, and quiet drives that meant everything. Thank you for letting us ride with you, mile after unforgettable mile.”
A Decade of Dominance and Innovation
The Creta’s strong sales performance over the past decade is highlighted by more than 1.2 million units sold in India alone, with annual sales more than doubling compared to its early years. Furthermore, 287,000 units have been exported to over 13 international markets, underscoring the SUV’s global appeal.
Hyundai has launched two generations of the Creta since its debut, with the second-generation model introduced in 2020. To keep the lineup exciting, Hyundai released special editions like the Creta Knight Edition in 2022 and the Creta Adventure Edition in 2023, both of which were met with strong market interest.
Feature-Rich Success
A major contributor to Creta’s continued popularity is its feature-rich offerings. From January to June 2025, nearly 70% of all Creta sales were from sunroof-equipped variants, highlighting customer preference for premium features even in the mid-size segment.
Multiple Powertrain Options and Competitive Pricing
The Hyundai Creta is offered in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) variants. The ICE options include petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engines. Meanwhile, the Creta Electric caters to the growing demand for eco-friendly mobility.
Pricing remains competitive, with the ICE variants ranging from ₹11.11 lakh to ₹20.50 lakh, while the Creta Electric is priced between ₹17.99 lakh and ₹24.38 lakh (ex-showroom prices).
As Hyundai celebrates this 10-year milestone, the Creta continues to symbolize trust, innovation, and customer satisfaction in one of India’s most fiercely contested automotive segments.
