Hinjawadi IT Park’s Traffic Woes to End Soon! Single Point Authority & Metro by 2025 Announced

Pune News, July 10, 2025: In a major breakthrough for Pune’s bustling Hinjawadi IT Park, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a “Single Point Authority” to streamline infrastructure development and resolve long-standing traffic congestion issues. The decision came after a high-level meeting at Vidhan Bhavan, attended by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, IT Forum representatives, and key government officials.
A Game-Changer for Hinjawadi’s Infrastructure
Hinjawadi, Maharashtra’s largest IT hub with over 5 lakh daily commuters, has struggled for years with chronic traffic jams, poor road conditions, and bureaucratic delays. The newly proposed Single Point Authority will coordinate between multiple government agencies to fast-track pending projects, ensuring smoother execution.
Key Decisions from the Meeting
The Hon. CM laid out a 10-point action plan, including:
✔ Single Point Authority to oversee all infrastructure projects
✔ Hinjawadi Metro completion by December 2025
✔ 6-lane widening of Laxmi Chowk bridge
✔ MIDC to expedite road expansion works
✔ Metro authority to provide parking solutions
✔ NHAI to begin pending highway works immediately, including underpasses at Punawale, Tathawade, and Bhumkar Chowk
✔ Pimpri-Chinchwad Police to enforce strict traffic management
✔ Use of modern technology for traffic control
Additionally, PMRDA will lead land acquisition efforts, while TDR and land acquisition processes must be completed within a month.

With a time-bound execution plan, the government aims to upgrade Hinjawadi IT park and transform it into a congestion-free zone for IT professionals, residents, and daily commuters.
