Pune: Around 400 fresh graduates have alleged that a Hinjawadi-based IT consulting company duped them through a paid training and placement programme.

The company reportedly asked candidates to pay between ₹1 lakh and ₹3 lakh for a two-month training course. After this, they were given a stipend of ₹15,000 per month for the next two months. The firm also promised them project allocations with an annual salary package of ₹3–4 lakh.

While the training and stipend were provided, the freshers claim the company stopped paying salaries once they were put on projects. For the past four months, many of them have been working without pay. To add to their frustration, employees say the office remained shut most of the time, and when some confronted the HR team, the company allegedly called the police instead of addressing the issue.

The affected employees have now approached the Forum for IT Employees (FITE) and are planning to take the matter to the Labour Commissioner.

Advising young professionals, FITE has warned freshers not to fall for paid placement traps and to always check a company’s background before paying large sums. They also stressed that when a company shuts down without paying salaries, it is not just a labour issue but a case of fraud.
