In a historic and high-impact briefing, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force came together to address the nation and the world, outlining the execution and outcomes of #OperationSindoor — a meticulously coordinated military response to the Pakistan-sponsored terrorist attack at Pahalgam.

This rare joint appearance by top military leaders served not only to update citizens but also to debunk misinformation and deliver a firm message: India stands united, resolute, and capable of responding decisively when provoked.

Disinformation by Pakistan Exposed

In the wake of Operation Sindoor, the Pakistani military attempted to mislead its citizens by broadcasting a selectively edited video clip from an Indian news channel, falsely suggesting that Indian airbases had been destroyed. However, Air Marshal AK Bharti, Director General Air Operations (DGAO), IAF, countered this propaganda with the original, full-length video. It clearly demonstrated that the attacks were intercepted and even showcased Pakistani missiles being neutralized.

“Our fight was against terrorism and the terrorists. It is unfortunate that the Pakistan military chose to support them, turning it into a personal conflict,” said Air Marshal Bharti.

Precision Without Escalation

The Indian Air Force launched precise strikes on May 7 targeting only terrorist infrastructure, without crossing the Line of Control (LoC) or international borders. This restraint underscored India’s intention to avoid escalation, even while preparing for potential retaliation.

“We anticipated a possible response and readied our air defence accordingly,” explained Air Marshal Bharti, who also showcased visuals of neutralized threats — including fragments of Chinese-origin PL-15 missiles, downed drones, and the IHA system used by Pakistan.

Ground Preparedness and Grid Defence

Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, DGMO Army, emphasized how India’s land defences, including advanced counter-unmanned aerial systems and electronic warfare resources, were integrated with IAF’s systems.

“Our defence grid is layered. If you manage to get past one layer, another is always waiting. That’s the essence of deterrence,” said Lt Gen Ghai, drawing a poetic analogy involving cricket legends and military strategy.

He also acknowledged the unflinching support of the Border Security Force (BSF), commending their frontline courage and the role of counter-alarm systems in supporting the national grid.

Naval Dominance Ensures Strategic Supremacy

Vice Admiral AN Pramod, Director General Naval Operations (DGNO), highlighted how the Indian Navy’s Carrier Battle Group (CBG), featuring MiG-29Ks and airborne early warning helicopters, maintained an uncontested and dominant presence in maritime zones.

“Our CBG compelled Pakistani air elements to remain bottled up near the Makran coast, denying them any offensive capability in maritime space,” he stated.

The Navy’s layered Fleet Air Defence mechanism ensured real-time surveillance and neutralization of any airborne threats. The use of multiple sensors and platforms guaranteed persistent awareness and targeting at extended ranges.

Capability Validation in Complex Threat Environments

The operation validated several of India’s critical military capabilities:

  • Anti-missile and anti-aircraft defences were tested and proven.
  • The Carrier Battle Group operated with freedom and impunity.
  • Surveillance bubbles prevented any hostile entry, both in the air and at sea.
  • Day and night flying operations by Navy pilots demonstrated extreme proficiency and readiness.

Unified Forces and National Resolve

The joint briefing underscored the synergy between the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Air Marshal Bharti emotionally acknowledged the unwavering support of India’s 1.4 billion citizens, saying:

“We salute our countrymen for standing with us. Your prayers and encouragement inspired us to fulfill our mission.”

He concluded with a poignant verse, used in the official video, to signal India’s shift from restraint to response:

“Vinay na manat jaladh jad gaye teen din beeti, bole Ram sakop tab, bhay binu hoye na preeti.”

This line — invoking Lord Ram’s transformation from peace-seeker to warrior — encapsulated the spirit of Operation Sindoor: Peace is our aim, but not at the cost of national security.

India has drawn a red line. Operation Sindoor is not just a military response — it is a message of clarity, capability, and national unity in the face of terror and mischief.
