Helicopter Crashes Near Bhagirathi River in Uttarkashi, 5 Dead and 2 Injured

Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand — A tragic helicopter crash near the Bhagirathi River in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district claimed the lives of five passengers on Thursday. Two others were seriously injured in the incident, which took place near the Ganganani area, a border region in the district.
Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey confirmed the fatalities and the injuries, adding that relief and rescue operations are currently underway. The injured have been transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

The helicopter was carrying six passengers along with its captain at the time of the crash. The cause of the accident is not yet known, and visuals from the crash site depict a mangled and severely damaged chopper interior.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami responded swiftly to the incident, stating, “SDRF and district administration teams have immediately reached the spot for relief and rescue work. I have instructed the administration to provide all possible help to the injured and investigate the accident.”
