Maharashtra, May 18, 2025 — A significant change in weather conditions is on the horizon for Maharashtra as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple alerts ahead of the expected formation of a low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea.

According to the Mumbai Regional Meteorological Centre, a low-pressure area is likely to form near the Karnataka coast around May 22. This system is expected to intensify and move northwards, leading to a spike in rainfall activity across Maharashtra from May 19 to May 25.

Heavy Rainfall Expected in Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra

Under the influence of this developing system, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is forecasted over Konkan and adjoining ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra. The intensified rainfall is likely to affect regions from May 19 to May 25, 2025.

Additionally, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph is expected across Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada from May 17 to May 20.

🟠 Orange Alert (Severe)

Thunderstorm with lightning, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds (50-60 kmph) at isolated places.

🟢 Green Alert (Mild)

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers expected.
