Government Shuts Down 32 Airports for Civil Flights in India Till May 14 – Full List

New Delhi, May 10, 2025 – In a significant development affecting air travel across northern and western India, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced the temporary suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports. The suspension, effective from May 9 to May 14, 2025, has been implemented for operational reasons as per a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other relevant aviation authorities.
All affected airports will remain closed for civil flight operations until 0529 IST on May 15, 2025.
The airports impacted by this NOTAM include:
Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai.
In addition to airport closures, 25 segments of Air Traffic Service (ATS) routes in the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) are also temporarily suspended. This is as per NOTAM G0555/25, which supersedes G0525/25. These route segments will be unavailable from ground level to unlimited altitude until 2359 UTC on May 14, 2025 (0529 IST on May 15, 2025).
Airlines and operators have been directed to reroute flights in accordance with updated air traffic advisories. The Air Traffic Control (ATC) units are coordinating these changes to maintain operational safety and minimize disruption for travelers.
The AAI and the Ministry have emphasized that these measures are being carried out purely for operational reasons, and efforts are being made to resume normal operations as soon as possible after the stipulated period.
