MUMBAI / NEW DELHI, May 12, 2025: Air travel in northern and western India is set to return to normal as all 32 airports that were shut during Operation Sindoor amid heightened India-Pakistan tensions have been cleared to resume civil flights.

The suspension, which began on May 9, was imposed due to the military standoff between the two nations. Airports in key cities like Srinagar and Amritsar were among those affected, halting civilian air traffic until 05:29 hrs on May 15, 2025.

A statement released today by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed the immediate availability of all 32 airports for civil aircraft operations.

“Reference notice issued for temporary closure of 32 Airports for civil Aircraft operations till 05:29 hrs of 15 May 2025. It is informed that these Airports are now available for civil Aircraft operations with immediate effect,” the AAI said.
