In a significant move to promote digital toll payments and ease travel for frequent commuters, the Government of India has introduced the FASTag Annual Pass 2025, allowing private vehicle owners to enjoy 200 toll-free trips on select national highways and expressways for just ₹3,000. The scheme, set to launch on August 15, 2025, is expected to benefit millions of highway travelers by simplifying toll payments and reducing congestion at plazas.

What is the FASTag Annual Pass?

The FASTag Annual Pass is a prepaid facility for private cars, jeeps, and vans, permitting up to 200 toll-free trips per year on designated National Highways (NH) and National Expressways (NE). The pass remains valid for one year from activation or until 200 trips are exhausted, whichever comes first. Post expiry, the FASTag reverts to the standard pay-per-use model.

How & Where to Buy the FASTag Annual Pass?

The pass can be purchased exclusively via:

  • The Rajmargyatra mobile app
  • The NHAI official website

Eligibility & Requirements:

✔ Valid FASTag (linked to the vehicle’s registration number, not chassis number)
✔ ₹3,000 payment (for the base year 2025–26)
✔ Verified Vehicle Registration Number (VRN)

Note: Existing FASTag users do not need a new tag—only activation of the Annual Pass is required.

Where is the FASTag Annual Pass Valid?

The pass is only applicable on NHAI-managed NH & NE toll plazas. It does not cover state highways or other expressways operated by local authorities.

How Are Trips Counted?

  • Open Tolling (Point-based): Each direction (entry/exit) counts as one trip.
  • Closed Tolling: A full journey (entry + exit) counts as one trip.

Once 200 trips are exhausted, users can repurchase the pass before the year ends.

🚫 Non-transferable (valid only for the registered vehicle)
⚠ Misuse (commercial use) leads to immediate deactivation
📌 FASTag must be properly affixed to the windshield

Is the FASTag Annual Pass Mandatory?

No. Users can continue using FASTag under the pay-per-use model if they prefer.

Why This Matters

The FASTag Annual Pass 2025 is a game-changer for frequent highway commuters, offering predictable toll costs and hassle-free travel. With India rapidly expanding its Bharatmala and Gati Shakti highway networks, this initiative aligns with the government’s push for digital, cashless tolling and reduced congestion.

For regular travelers, the ₹3,000 flat fee could mean significant savings, making it a smart investment for those frequently using national highways.
