Unified Planning for Lasting Solutions

Chief Minister Fadnavis directed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) to work in close coordination. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive and time-bound master plan that utilizes available resources efficiently to improve services for citizens and ensures timely execution of projects.

To streamline operations, the CM announced the formation of a Single Point Authority to oversee all development works in the Hinjawadi area. This centralized control is expected to overcome the inter-departmental delays and ensure accountability.

Traffic Decongestion: A Multi-Pronged Approach

Addressing the chronic traffic jams that have become synonymous with Hinjawadi, several key decisions were taken:

  • A 30-meter-wide alternate road from Surya Hospital to Hinjawadi Phase 3 through PMRDA jurisdiction will be developed immediately. This new corridor is expected to divert more than 50% of current traffic from the main route.
  • The Hinjawadi Elevated Road will be expanded into a six-lane highway, with a final decision expected within 15 days.
  • Roads such as Kaspaté Wasti to Hinjawadi Phase 3, Surya Hospital to Maan Gaothan, Mahalunge to Phase 1, and Wakad’s Shani Mandir to Marunji will be widened with proper land acquisition and fair compensation in consultation with local representatives.

Metro and Public Transport Upgrades

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar instructed authorities to complete all Hinjawadi Metro station works by December 2025. The meeting also proposed:

  • Expediting pending Metro works across the area.
  • Approval of a new DPR (Detailed Project Report) for a Metro route from Nigdi-Mukai Chowk to Chakan via Wakad and Nashik Phata.
  • Developing a public transport hub in the Wakad-Balewadi corridor to reduce peak-hour crowding.

Drainage, Flood Management, and Footpaths

The CM emphasized studying natural water flow and installing proper drainage systems before the next monsoon. Civic authorities were instructed to:

  • Identify and install drainage lines in flood-prone zones.
  • Remove footpath encroachments to ensure pedestrian safety.
  • Acquire land for Patilvasti to Balewadi Road within a month to ease future development.

Development of Mahalunge IT City and Other Priorities

Fadnavis ordered immediate clearance of the pending Mahalunge IT City project and called for all roads in the area to be converted to cement concrete for longevity. Footpath development, road infrastructure strengthening, and efficient parking systems were also stressed.

Broad Administrative Participation

The meeting saw participation from several key officials and stakeholders, including:

  • Minister of State for Urban Development Madhuri Misal
  • MLAs Shankar Jagtap, Mahesh Landge, and Shankar Mandekar
  • Additional Chief Secretary Asimkumar Gupta
