Pune: Shirur MP Dr. Amol Kolhe has strongly criticised the delay in the Nashik Phata–Khed Flyover Road Project, calling the 15th extension of its tender process “extremely unfortunate and regrettable.” He said the repeated extensions are causing serious inconvenience to residents, entrepreneurs, farmers, and workers in the Chakan industrial region.
According to Dr. Kolhe, the Nashik Phata–Khed Flyover Project is crucial to resolving severe traffic congestion in Chakan and nearby areas. “Had the project started on time, it would have been completed by now, providing much-needed relief to citizens,” he said.
The MP expressed concern over what he described as the central government’s “indifferent policy” towards the Pune–Nashik railway project. He emphasised that the Nashik Phata–Khed Flyover holds equal importance and must not face bureaucratic delays.
Dr. Kolhe appealed to Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to personally intervene and direct officials to expedite the tender process and ensure timely completion of the project.
He also pointed out that both flyovers in Chakan are technically defective and need to be demolished for proper reconstruction. He urged the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to add additional lanes and address structural issues on priority.

Highlighting the need for an integrated transport approach, Dr. Kolhe called for the swift execution of the Comprehensive Mobility Plan, which includes the Pune–Nashik Highway, the railway link, the Nashik Phata–Rajgurunagar Metro, and the Karjat–Rajgurunagar–Shirur Highway.
He said, “If this initiative is implemented on priority, the region will finally overcome its long-standing traffic woes and see renewed development.” Dr. Kolhe also appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take proactive measures to ensure faster implementation of this mobility plan.
