Dharmendra ‘Stable and Recovering’, Family Urges Media to Stop False Reports
MUMBAI (Nov 11): Veteran actor Dharmendra is recovering well and remains under medical observation at a Mumbai hospital, his daughter Esha Deol confirmed on Tuesday. She appealed to the media to refrain from spreading misinformation about his health.
“The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to respect our family’s privacy. Thank you for all the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery,” Esha shared on Instagram.
Actor and politician Hema Malini, Dharmendra’s wife, also expressed her frustration over the “irresponsible” reporting by some outlets.
“What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about someone who is responding well to treatment? This is disrespectful and highly irresponsible. Please respect the family’s privacy,” she posted on X.

Their clarifications came after several public figures, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and lyricist Javed Akhtar, posted condolences on X following incorrect reports of the actor’s death.
Dharmendra, 89, has been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in south Mumbai for a few days. On Monday night, Malini had urged fans to stay calm and continue praying for his recovery.
“I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji, who is in hospital for observation. He is being closely monitored, and we are all with him. Please continue to pray for his good health,” she wrote on X.
A spokesperson for his son, actor and BJP MP Sunny Deol, dismissed rumours that the “Sholay” star had been placed on a ventilator.
“Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Please avoid spreading baseless rumours about his health. We request everyone to respect the family’s privacy and pray for his speedy recovery,” the representative said.
The Deol family, including Hema Malini, Sunny, and Bobby Deol, are at the hospital. Several Bollywood stars such as Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Govinda have also visited to check on the actor’s condition.
