DGCA mandates airlines to seat children under 12 with parents, revises air transport circular for unbundled services.

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked airlines to ensure that children up to the age of 12 years are allocated seats with at least one of their parents or guardians in a flight traveling on the same PNR

The regulator has also asked the airlines to maintain the record for it as well.

“Airlines shall ensure that children up to the age of 12 years are allocated seats with at least one of their parents/guardians, who are travelling on the same PNR and a record of the same shall be maintained,” said DGCA..

The directive comes against the backdrop of instances of children below the age of 12 years were not seated along with their parents or guardians during flights.

Recent incidents of children under 12 not being seated with parents on flights, prompted the said directive.

This is a developing story. We will keep you updated as DGCA releases the detailed directive.
