The underground sections of Pune Metro, including key stations at Swargate, Mandai, Kasba Peth, Civil Court, and Shivajinagar, have been affected for several weeks. While infrastructure such as signal boosters and in-building network systems are installed, many commuters say that mobile data drops sharply once they enter the tunnels.

Experts say poor signal penetration in underground environments is a common challenge, made worse by thick concrete structures and limited air circulation. Telecom operators have been asked to strengthen signal coverage and expand connectivity to ensure smoother data access.

Officials from Pune Metro said they are coordinating with major telecom companies to improve coverage and will soon add new providers to their network system. Until then, passengers are advised to plan ticketing in advance or carry cash for offline purchases.

As digital ticketing becomes a standard part of urban commuting, resolving connectivity issues will be crucial for passenger convenience and overall metro efficiency.
