Chopper Makes Emergency Landing Near Lonavala Due to Dense Fog; Flies Out After 15 Minutes
A helicopter made an emergency landing near Lonavala due to heavy rain and fog, all passengers safe
A private helicopter carrying six people, including two pilots, made an emergency landing near Lonavala in Pune district on August 15 due to extremely poor visibility caused by heavy rain and dense fog.
Police said the chopper, reportedly belonging to a city-based builder, was flying from Pune towards Mumbai when the pilots were forced to land around 3 pm. The aircraft touched down on a narrow cement-concrete road leading to a temple at the rear side of Saltar village in Mulshi tehsil. The area is surrounded by the Mulshi dam reservoir on one side and the Aamby Valley project on the other, making it a challenging spot for an unscheduled landing.
Local residents and police personnel who witnessed the incident said the helicopter descended slowly and landed safely. “The helicopter, with two pilots and four passengers, had to make an emergency landing because of fog. It took off again within 15 minutes,” an official from Pune rural police said.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported, and all six individuals on board were safe.
The incident happened at a time when Pune, Mumbai, and several other parts of Maharashtra were experiencing heavy rainfall, leading to difficult flying conditions in hilly areas.
