The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the tentative date sheets for the 2026 board examinations of Classes 10 and 12. The exams are scheduled to be held from 17 February 2026 to 15 July 2026, covering main examinations, sports quota exams, second board examinations for Class 10, and supplementary exams for Class 12.

According to CBSE, nearly 45 lakh students across India and 26 other countries are expected to appear in 204 subjects. The board has shared the tentative schedules to help students, teachers, and schools plan in advance.

The tentative date sheets have been released for:

  • Main Examinations for Class 10
  • Main Examinations for Class 12
  • Second Board Examinations for Class 10

CBSE has highlighted the benefits of early release of the schedule:

  • Students can prepare structured study plans.
  • Schools can align academic calendars and teacher deployment.
  • Teachers can plan their personal schedules, including vacations.

The board has also clarified the evaluation timeline. Answer sheet evaluation will begin about 10 days after each exam and finish within 12 days. For example, if the Class 12 Physics exam is held on 20 February 2026, evaluation is expected to run from 3 March to 15 March 2026.

CBSE stressed that the released schedules are tentative and the final date sheets will be published after schools submit the final list of candidates.

The circular, signed by Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, has been shared with all CBSE-affiliated schools and education authorities across India.
