BreakingNews: Explosions Rock Barmer, Blackouts Enforced in Barmer and Rajouri Amid Ceasefire Collapse

Barmer/Srinagar, May 10, 2025 — In the latest escalation following the abrupt collapse of the India-Pakistan ceasefire, 10-12 loud explosions were reported in Barmer, Rajasthan, on Saturday evening. Authorities have since enforced a complete blackout in Barmer, a rare move for the desert city that signals heightened national security concerns. Simultaneously, Rajouri in Jammu & Kashmir has also been plunged into darkness under blackout orders, intensifying fears of a prolonged confrontation.
The explosions in Barmer were heard across multiple parts of the city around 8:45 PM, according to eyewitnesses and local media. No official statement has been issued yet confirming the source of the blasts, but defense sources suspect possible drone activity or a missile threat from across the border.
The blackout in Barmer, which followed minutes after the blasts, has affected communication networks and power supply in several sectors. Security forces are on high alert, and additional troops have reportedly been moved to sensitive installations.
Earlier in the day, drone incursions and shelling were reported in multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Akhnoor, Rajouri, RS Pura, and Srinagar. Drones were shot down in Baramulla (J&K) and Pokhran (Rajasthan), with air raid sirens activated in the Samba district.
The only question I have right now is — why?

Why on earth would anyone trust a country like Pakistan?

The ceasefire agreement, announced just hours before the first violations, now lies in tatters. High-ranking officials from the Border Security Force (BSF) and Indian Army are reviewing the situation in both Jammu and Rajasthan sectors.
Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, earlier voiced alarm at the situation, tweeting:
“What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!”
Journalist Shiv Aroor also confirmed violations in ten key border areas, including Udhampur, Nowshera, and Arnia.
With blackouts now extended to both Barmer and Rajouri, strategic analysts believe India is preparing for a more extensive military and surveillance response amid fears of more drone or artillery strikes overnight.
No civilian casualties have been reported yet, but the administration has urged citizens to stay indoors and avoid sharing unverified information online.
The situation remains volatile, and this story is developing.
