Bookings Open for Holi Special Trains from Pune and Mumbai; Check Full Schedule and Routes
PUNE: To cater to the massive rush of commuters during the upcoming festive season, Central Railway has announced a series of special train services connecting Pune, Mumbai, and other major destinations. Aimed at providing a comfortable and safe journey for those traveling to celebrate Holi with their loved ones, these special trains will operate throughout late February and early March 2026.
According to the official notification, booking for these services has already commenced. Passengers are encouraged to plan their travel in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.
Key Train Services from Pune
Pune residents traveling towards North India and Vidarbha have several options this season:
- Pune – Hazrat Nizamuddin (Weekly): Train No. 01491 will depart Pune every Friday (Feb 27 & March 6), while Train No. 01492 returns from Delhi every Saturday.
- Pune – Gorakhpur (Daily): A total of 32 services (Train No. 01415/01416) will run daily from Feb 21 to March 9, passing through Daund, Manmad, and Itarsi.
- Pune – Nagpur (Weekly): Two separate weekly specials (Train No. 01469/01470 and 01457/01458) will run on Tuesdays/Wednesdays and Wednesdays/Thursdays respectively.
- Pune – Ghazipur City (Bi-weekly): Train No. 01431/01432 will operate every Friday and Tuesday to manage the rush towards Uttar Pradesh.
Key Train Services from Mumbai (CSMT & LTT)
Major services connecting Mumbai to Bihar, UP, and Konkan include:
- LTT – Danapur (Daily): 32 services (Train No. 01143/01144) will run daily starting Feb 21, providing crucial connectivity to Bihar.
- CSMT – Gorakhpur (Daily): Daily specials (Train No. 01079/01080) will connect Mumbai to Gorakhpur via Kanpur and Lucknow.
- CSMT – Nagpur (Bi-weekly): Ten services (Train No. 02141/02142) are scheduled for Sundays and Tuesdays.
- LTT – Samastipur (Weekly): Train No. 01043/01044 will run every Tuesday to accommodate passengers heading to Bihar.
- LTT – Banaras (Bi-weekly): Eight services (Train No. 01073/01074) will operate on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Konkan Routes: Weekly specials will run between CSMT – Sawantwadi Road (Train No. 01171/01172) and LTT – Sawantwadi Road (Train No. 01119/01120) every Thursday/Friday.
Coach Composition and Facilities
Most of these “Holi Special” trains feature a mix of AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches to accommodate different budget requirements. Some long-distance routes, like the LTT-Samastipur special, also include Pantry Cars and a higher number of AC coaches.
