Bengaluru Airport Shifts Pick-Up Zones for T1 to Decongest Traffic; New Parking Rules Explained
Bengaluru: In a strategic move to streamline traffic flow and reduce terminal-side congestion, the Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) has announced a significant change in pick-up locations for passengers at Terminal 1. Effective immediately, pick-up points for privately booked cars and specific app-based taxis have been relocated to Parking 3 (P3) and Parking 4 (P4).

The airport management stated that the relocation is designed to ensure a smoother experience for travelers and to keep the Terminal 1 forecourt congestion-free.

Key Changes for Passengers
While the shift affects a large volume of commuters, the airport has clarified that not all services are moving. Here is the breakdown of where you should go:

- Move to P3 & P4: All privately booked commercial cars and app-based taxis that are not part of the airport’s authorized fleet.
- Remain at Designated Zones: Private personal cars and BLR Airport Authorised Cabs, including Ola, Uber, Uber Black, Quick Ride, and WTi Cabs, will continue to operate from their existing designated pick-up zones.

Complimentary Transit Facilities
To minimize inconvenience for passengers moving to the further parking lots (P3 and P4), the airport has rolled out several complimentary transit options:

- Buggy Service: Available opposite the Arrival Gate and at the elevated walkway on the first floor.
- Shuttle Service: Frequent shuttles are stationed at Pick Point 12.
- Car Drop Facility: Available at Pick Point 13.
- PRM/PwD Support: Passengers with reduced mobility or disabilities can access dedicated shuttle support at the VIP Pick-Up Lane.

“We appreciate the cooperation of all passengers as we work toward keeping Terminal 1 congestion-free,” the airport management said in a statement. Travelers are advised to check their booking details and follow the updated signage upon arrival to avoid confusion.
