Residents have expressed concern over rising hit-and-run incidents in Pune, especially in areas like Balewadi and Hinjawadi where heavy vehicles often move through residential zones. On Monday, a separate hit-and-run case in Hinjawadi led to the death of a 20-year-old woman after a dumper accident, adding to public anger over road safety and enforcement.

The Balewadi hit and run case has renewed calls for stricter action against reckless drivers and regulation of heavy vehicles entering busy residential stretches.
