Ather Energy Launches Battery as a Service, Rizta Price Starts at ₹75,999 With Buyback Plans
Ather Energy’s new Battery as a Service model makes EVs more affordable for Indian buyers
Ather Energy has rolled out three new initiatives to make electric scooters more affordable and worry-free for buyers in India. The company has introduced a Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, expanded its Assured Buyback programme, and launched an Extended Comprehensive Warranty (ECW).
Battery as a Service
Under the BaaS model, customers can buy an Ather Rizta at ₹75,999 (ex-showroom, Lucknow) and the 450 Series at ₹84,341, excluding the battery cost. Instead of paying for the battery upfront, buyers will pay a monthly usage fee, starting at ₹1 per kilometre for at least 1,000 kilometres a month, over 48 months. This reduces the upfront cost of the Rizta by nearly 30 per cent. To sweeten the deal, Ather is also offering one year of free fast charging at its network of more than 3,300 charging stations across the country.
Assured Buyback programme
The Assured Buyback programme, which was first launched in February for a limited set of customers, has now been opened to a wider audience. It guarantees up to 60 per cent of the scooter’s value after three years and up to 50 per cent after four years, depending on usage. This gives buyers a clear idea of resale value, something many scooter owners worry about.
Extended Comprehensive Warranty
The new warranty plan covers the battery along with 11 other parts such as the motor, dashboard, charger, and motor controller. The coverage extends up to five years or 60,000 kilometres, whichever comes first. It is available to all AtherStack Pro customers and aims to protect buyers from expensive component replacements in the long run.
Ravneet S. Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, said these initiatives are designed to address the top concerns that buyers face when considering an EV: cost, resale value, and maintenance. He added that the company wants to make it easier for families to switch to electric scooters with greater confidence.
