In a surprising turn of events, the ongoing Indora-Dighori flyover project in Nagpur has taken a strange twist, the structure now passes right through the balcony of a family’s home. The ambitious ₹998-crore project, aimed at improving traffic flow, includes two major flyovers connecting Kamal Chowk to Reshimbagh Square and Bhande Plot Square to Dighori. However, at Ashok Square, the construction has literally landed on the Patre family’s doorstep.

According to Lokmat Times, Shrusti Patre, a member of the affected family, said while they face a “minor inconvenience” from the flyover pierce, they feel helpless. “We can’t do anything because it’s a government project,” she said. The family was reportedly served a notice only a few months ago, without prior warnings or compensation.

Despite MLA Pravin Datke showing sympathy towards their situation, construction work continues, with workers mixing cement right outside the family’s balcony grill. Attempts to contact the contractor, Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited (NCCL), were unsuccessful. A safety officer from the company clarified that the family hadn’t encroached illegally and that the project aimed to save as many homes as possible, but unfortunately, this one wasn’t spared.

Even the site engineer from NHAI, when questioned about how such a design error occurred, hesitated and promised to “check the design and call back,” never to respond again.

The Patre family is now left grappling with an unprecedented situation, how do you live when a flyover cuts through your balcony? Questions remain unanswered, and officials have offered no clear solution. As the construction marches on, this odd scenario has unintentionally turned into a local attraction: a flyover with a balcony view.
