District Collector Jitendra Dudi has decided to move ahead with the process after affected landowners refused to give their consent voluntarily.

The proposed Purandar International Airport requires 1,216 hectares of land, spread across seven villages in Purandar taluka. The six villages identified in the project records are Kumbharvalan, Vanpuri, Ekhatpur, Pargaon, Munjwadi and Khanwadi.

According to the acquisition details, 96% of farmers in the project area have agreed to the land acquisition voluntarily, while 76% of the total required land has been handed over to the district administration.

The state government has fixed the land compensation rate at ₹1.61 crore per acre. Landowners are also entitled to separate payments for existing structures, wells and trees on their land. The government has released the required funds, with ₹4,000 crore already credited directly to farmers’ bank accounts.

The remaining 40 hectares in Pargaon village are held by farmers opposing the acquisition. The administration extended the deadline for submitting voluntary consent letters twice, but the affected landowners did not agree to the proposal.

The opposing landowners also approached the Bombay High Court, challenging the project. However, the court dismissed their petition, clearing the legal path for compulsory land acquisition.

The administration has clarified that landowners whose plots are acquired compulsorily will receive the prescribed statutory compensation but will not be eligible for the additional benefits and facilities offered to farmers who agreed to the acquisition voluntarily.

The district administration plans to complete the compulsory acquisition of the final 40 hectares in Pargaon in the coming days.
