Has Monsoon 2026 Exited Pune or Will There be More Rain? Well, This is What IMD Says!

Since the last few days, there have been clear skies and the heat has been rising. There is a speculation that monsoon has already exited Pune for the year 2026.

However, these are all simply not true. IMD has not declared the withdrawal of monsoon from Pune or any other region of Maharashtra so far. Even the process of withdrawal of Monsoon 2026 has not commenced in Pune or in other parts of Maharashtra.

Current Status of Monsoon Withdrawal

According to IMD, the line of withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon 2026 continues to pass through 32.5°N/72.5°E, Gurdaspur, Chandigarh, Muzaffarnagar, Aligarh, Dholpur, Udaipur, Deesa, Naliya and 23.0°N/67.8°E.

In fact, as of yesterday, IMD did not even mention that conditions are favorable for further withdrawal of monsoon from other parts of the country.

Will It Rain More in Pune and Other Parts of Maharashtra

Well, IMD says yes! There are chances of isolated rainfall on 27th September, increasing to scattered rainfall from 28th to 30th September, and returning to isolated rainfall from 1st to 3rd October. Besides, there are high chances of lightening and thunderstorms during this period.

As far as Konkan and Mumbai are concerned, isolated rainfall is forecast daily across the 7-day period from 27th September to 3rd October. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning are expected on 29th and 30th September.

Marathwada will witness isolated rainfall from 27th to 29th September, transitioning to dry weather from 30th September to 3rd October.

Vidarbha too will have isolated to scattered rainfall from 27th September to 2nd October, clearing to dry weather on 3rd October.

So the monsoon is still very much here and will take its own course of time to say goodbye to Pune and Maharashtra.
