MIDC, IT Companies Partner to Build Direct Foot Overbridges for Pune Metro Line 3

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL) have reached out to five major Hinjawadi-based IT companies to construct dedicated Foot Overbridges (FOBs) connecting their campuses directly to adjacent Metro stations ahead of Pune Metro Line 3’s partial launch.
Together, these five corporate campuses accommodate roughly 90,000 workers. Under the proposed arrangement, the IT firms will fund the construction, while MIDC will allocate the land needed to erect the bridge pillars.
According to a report by the Times of India, two entities, a major technology firm and a commercial real estate developer, have already signaled interest and secured necessary approvals. Their planned FOBs will link Phase 2 office spaces directly to MIDC Circle, Hinjawadi Circle 1, and Hinjawadi Circle 2 stations, catering to a combined workforce of nearly 55,000 employees.
MIDC is currently in talks with three additional companies to build similar elevated connections. These proposed pathways will serve surrounding areas, including Maan, Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, and Hinjawadi Circle 1, covering a collective employee base of about 32,000.
