PMC Announces 24-Hour Water Cut in Parvati, Warje, and Bhama Askhed Zones on August 27 for Urgent Maintenance Work
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will impose a 24-hour complete water shutdown across major parts of the city on Thursday, August 27, 2026, to carry out urgent electrical, pumping, and civil maintenance works. The shutdown, scheduled from midnight on Wednesday, August 26, to midnight on Thursday, August 27, will affect several key residential and commercial localities under the civic body’s jurisdiction.
Civic officials stated that the shutdown is required to execute emergency repair and maintenance routines across key installations, including the old Parvati Water Treatment Plant, Stage 2 Parvati High Level Reservoir (HLR) zone, Bhama Askhed sector, Warje Water Works, SND (HLR), Chandani Chowk Tank, Gandhi Bhavan Tank, and the Pancard Club GSR Tank areas. Water supply will also remain completely cut off in areas relying on the Warje adjacent GSR Tank, Pashan and Sus Gol Tank, Chatushrungi Tank, old Warje Water Works sector, new and old Holkar Water Works, Kondhwa Dhavade Water Works, and the Rajiv Gandhi Pumping station under the Vadgaon zone.
The maintenance operations are essential to prevent unscheduled disruptions during the peak festival season and ensure system reliability across the central, western, and northern belts of the city.
According to PMC water supply department officials, regular pumping will resume on Friday, August 28, though supply is expected to remain late and at low pressure throughout the morning. The civic administration has appealed to citizens across all affected sectors to store sufficient water in advance and use available supplies judiciously during the maintenance period.
