Pune: PCMC Residents to Get Adequate Drinking Water as Pawana Closed Conduit Pipeline Project Gains Momentum

Pune, June 19, 2026: The residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation have a reason to cheer as the long pending Pawana Closed Conduit Pipeline Project gain momentum.
Mahesh Landge, MLA, Bhosari has been pursuing this project for a long time and his efforts have paid off as Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis led a comprehensive review meeting with municipal corporation and relevant departmental officials.
Project Details
- Massive Water Carrying Capacity: The initiative is being planned as an ambitious project with a carrying capacity of 750 MLD (Million Liters per Day).
- Permanent Water Solution for PCMC: The objective of this pipeline is to permanently resolve the long-standing drinking water issues of Pimpri-Chinchwad residents by ensuring a pure, secure, and adequate water supply.
This important update was shared by the office of Mahesh Landge. It further stated that the administration has been directed to clear technical hurdles and work on a war footing, with a strict policy that no further delays will be tolerated.
Clear directives have been issued to fast-track and immediately complete the remaining land acquisition processes required for the pipeline.
