Pune Traffic Police to Tow Away Long-Parked Abandoned Vehicles; Citizens Can Now Report via PTP App

Long-Parked Abandoned Vehicles

In order to reclaim public spaces and improve urban hygiene, the Pune Traffic Police has initiated a specialized drive to identify and remove abandoned vehicles parked across city roads. The crackdown aims to resolve increasing complaints regarding traffic congestion and deteriorating sanitary conditions caused by these “dead” vehicles.

For months, several arterial roads and internal lanes have been cluttered with unattended cars and two-wheelers. According to officials, these vehicles have become more than just a physical obstruction; they have turned into unofficial dumping spots where garbage accumulates, leading to foul odors and potential health hazards for local residents.

During the most recent phase of the drive, traffic police teams successfully cleared multiple long-standing vehicles from key locations, providing immediate relief to commuters and improving the aesthetic of the affected neighborhoods.

Public Participation and the PTP App Recognizing that community input is vital for a comprehensive cleanup, the Pune Traffic Police has appealed to citizens to act as the eyes and ears of the department. Residents who notice abandoned vehicles in their vicinity are encouraged to report them immediately to ensure swift removal.

To streamline this process, authorities are directing citizens to use the PTP (Pune Traffic Police) mobile application. The app allows users to upload photographs and precise location details of neglected vehicles, enabling teams to verify and tow them efficiently.

“Public participation is crucial in maintaining safer, cleaner, and more accessible roads,” stated a senior official. “By using the PTP app, citizens can directly contribute to an obstruction-free city.”

The PTP app is available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
