According to the circular issued by Primary Education Director Sharad Gosavi and Secondary Education Director Dr. Mahesh Palkar, the current academic session will conclude on May 1. While the summer vacation officially begins in early May, schools are expected to complete all examination results and administrative wrapping-up by the end of April.

For decades, schools in the Vidarbha region were granted an extension of their summer break until June 30 due to the extreme heatwaves typical of the region in mid-June. However, the 2026–27 academic calendar introduces a major policy change:
- Uniform Date: All schools in Maharashtra, including those in Nagpur, Akola, and Amravati, will reopen on June 15, 2026.
- Synchronized Academic Year: This change aims to ensure that students across the state have an equal number of instructional days and that the curriculum progresses at a synchronized pace.

To balance the uniform reopening date with the safety of students in high-temperature zones, the Education Department has introduced a strategic compromise. From June 15 to June 29, schools in the Vidarbha region will operate on a restricted “morning shift” schedule.
