Major Diversions in Hinjawadi and Wakad for Mhatooba Deva Fair on April 2

Traffic Diversion

PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Branch has issued a comprehensive traffic notification ahead of the annual Shri Gramdaivat Mhatooba Deva Yatra scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026. With nearly 50,000 devotees expected to participate in the traditional Bagad procession, several key arterial roads in the IT hub and surrounding residential clusters will remain closed to regular traffic.

The restrictions will be in effect from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, or until the crowds disperse and traffic flow normalizes.

The Procession Route

The main Bagad procession is set to commence at 3:00 PM from Hinjawadi village, moving toward Wakad village. Simultaneously, another procession will take place in the Pimple Gurav area under the Sangvi Traffic Division.

To prevent gridlock, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil has authorized the following diversions:

Key Traffic Diversions

1. Hinjawadi IT Park Area

  • Tata T Chowk to Wakad Naka: Completely prohibited.
    • Alternate Route: Use Wipro Circle Phase 2 → Shivaji Chowk → Wakad Naka, or via Lakshmi Chowk toward Bhumkar Chowk.
  • Geometric Circle to Wakad Naka: Closed.
    • Alternate Route: Divert via Shivaji Chowk or Mezza-9 Chowk toward Bhumkar Chowk.
  • Shivaji Chowk to Bhumkar Chowk: Closed.
    • Alternate Route: Use Indian Oil Chowk to enter Wakad village.

2. Wakad and Highway Connectivity

  • Kaspate Chowk to Wakadgaon: Prohibited.
    • Alternate Route: Commuters should use Jagtap Dairy Chowk.
  • Mankar Chowk to Wakadgaon: Closed.
    • Alternate Route: Divert via Kalewadi Phata or Kaspate Vasti.
  • Jaguar Showroom to Sayaji Underpass (Service Road): All traffic prohibited.
    • Alternate Route: Use the main Highway road instead of the service lane.
  • Dattamandir Road: Restrictions between Utkarsh Chowk and Wakadgaon.

3. Sangvi & Pimple Gurav

  • Dattamandir Chowk to Pimple Gurav Arch: Traffic is prohibited.
    • Alternate Route: Use the lane via Bank of Maharashtra toward Shivganesh Chowk.

Important Note for Commuters

All emergency service vehicles (ambulances, fire tenders) and vehicles part of the official religious procession are exempted from these restrictions.

The Traffic Police have urged citizens, especially IT professionals and residents of Hinjawadi and Wakad, to plan their travel in advance and use the designated alternate routes to avoid being caught in the festivities-related congestion.
