Pune Traffic Police Launch New WhatsApp Number to Report Traffic Violations
PUNE – In a significant move to bolster road discipline and streamline grievance redressal, the Pune Traffic Police has launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline and announced a crackdown on long-pending traffic fines.
New Digital Helpline for Citizens
Following an announcement on X (formerly Twitter), the department has introduced a new WhatsApp number, 9112020112, specifically for citizens to report traffic violations. Residents of Pune can now directly submit complaints, photos, or videos regarding common offenses, including:

30-Day Ultimatum for Pending Challans
The department is also intensifying its recovery efforts for outstanding traffic challans. Under a new special drive, vehicle owners with unpaid fines will receive formal notices.
Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), emphasized that compliance is no longer optional. “We appeal to citizens to cooperate and clear their dues within the prescribed time limit,” Jadhav stated.
Important: Failure to clear pending penalties within 30 days of receiving the notice will result in legal action and the potential suspension of the offender’s driving license.

Data-Driven Policing with ‘Trafficure’
To modernize traffic management, Pune City Traffic Police has also deployed ‘Trafficure’, an advanced software developed in collaboration with L&T India and supported by Google Maps.
This system provides authorities with real-time data on congestion across major and internal city roads. An independent alert mechanism within the software allows personnel to identify slow-moving traffic instantly and reach congestion points faster to take corrective action.
Through these combined digital and enforcement initiatives, the department aims to foster a more disciplined and efficient traffic environment for all Punekars.
