Three Teenagers Run Over by Train in Pune While Walking Near Railway Tracks

Three teenagers lost their lives after a train hit them while they were walking close to the railway tracks in Manjari near Hadapsar on Sunday night. The Pune-Daund DEMU train struck the youngsters around 9 pm, leaving no time for them to react.
What Happened
According to the police, the teenagers were busy chatting while walking along the tracks and failed to notice the train approaching from behind.
The victims have been identified as:
• Prathmesh Nitin Tinde, 18
• Tanmay Mahendra Tupe, 17
• Tushar Shinde, 17
All three lived in a nearby settlement in Manjari and were known to do odd jobs in the city for a living.
Eyewitness Account
• Three friends who were walking a little ahead saw the train hit the trio.
• Their statements were recorded on Monday morning.
• Police have registered an accidental death report.
Senior Inspector Sanjay Mogale said the group planned to cross to the other side of the tracks but misjudged the train’s movement. Their failure to sense the train approaching from behind led to the fatal accident.
Railway Authorities’ Response
• A Railway Protection Force team and the station master reached the spot within minutes.
• Two victims were found on the tracks, while one lay slightly away.
• They were rushed to Sassoon General Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
• The teenagers did not have tickets, and officials are still trying to understand why they were on the tracks.
Police have launched a probe to piece together the full sequence of events.
