Truck Loses Control Near Navale Bridge in Pune, Crashes Into Three Vehicles; Two Injured
Pune, 29th October 2025: A truck accident near the Navale Bridge once again highlighted the growing safety concerns along this accident-prone stretch in Pune. Early Wednesday morning, a truck carrying tiles from Katraj Chowk lost control while descending the slope towards the Navale Bridge and rammed into three vehicles, injuring two people. The incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.
According to the Sinhagad Road Police, the accident occurred around 5 am when the truck, loaded with flour sacks, veered out of control near the base of the bridge. It first collided with a readymix dumper and then crashed into two cars, leaving all three vehicles severely damaged.

Police teams arrived promptly at the site and cleared the wreckage using a crane, helping to restore normal traffic movement. One of the injured, identified as Prakash Kumar Budhan Mahto (39), a Bavdhan resident originally from Jharkhand, has filed a complaint at the Sinhagad Road Police Station. Based on his complaint, the truck driver, Taufiq Israr Ahmed (32), a resident of Uttar Pradesh, has been detained.
Authorities have said that an RTO inspection will determine whether the accident occurred due to brake failure or driver fatigue. The CCTV footage, showing the truck speeding downhill before crashing into other vehicles, has left commuters alarmed.
The Navale Bridge area has been a recurring site of major accidents over the years. Locals have repeatedly called for better slope management, stricter speed checks, and stronger enforcement of traffic safety measures to prevent such incidents.
