Pune: PMC Commissioner Reviews 32 Key Pune Roads, Orders Action to Ease Traffic

Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram on Wednesday reviewed 32 of the city’s busiest roads that carry nearly 85% of overall traffic and issued strict directives to remove hurdles affecting smooth vehicle movement.
The review meeting, attended by senior officials from multiple departments, discussed reports submitted by engineering teams that had studied traffic bottlenecks across major stretches. The key roads include Karve Road, Bajirao Road, Jungli Maharaj Road, Fergusson College Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Ahmednagar Road, Satara Road, Solapur Road, and the Old Pune–Mumbai Road.
After reviewing the findings, the commissioner directed officials to act immediately. “All illegal constructions, hawkers, electric poles, and other obstructions affecting traffic flow must be removed,” Ram instructed. He also ordered the closure of unnecessary U-turns that block lanes and stressed the need for coordination between the municipal administration, traffic police, MSEDCL, and other service providers.
The aim is to free up these arterial roads of encumbrances and ensure smoother travel for Pune’s daily commuters.
