iPhone 17 Launch Craze in India: Midnight Rush, Big Crowds, and Surprising Mixed Reviews
Apple’s much-awaited iPhone 17 launch turned into a festival-like scene in India on Friday, September 19, as massive crowds gathered outside Apple stores in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. Eager buyers queued up long before sunrise, some even camping overnight, to be among the first to own the new iPhone 17 series.
At Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) Apple store, hundreds lined up hours before the doors opened. A brief scuffle broke out amid the rush, but security quickly brought things under control. Aman Chouhan, one of the first customers, proudly shared, “I have purchased two iPhone 17 Pro Max models, one 256GB and one 1TB. I was waiting since midnight. The orange colour is stunning.”

Similar excitement was seen in Delhi, where customers waited outside the Saket Apple store. Irfan, who bought the orange iPhone 17 Pro Max, said, “I have been waiting since 8 pm yesterday. The camera and battery upgrades are exciting, and the new look is refreshing.”
Bengaluru’s newly opened Apple store at Mall of Asia also witnessed long queues. Rahul, another early buyer, told reporters, “We booked four phones. This model is comparatively better than the last three. The service here is excellent.”

What’s New in iPhone 17
The iPhone 17 lineup includes the Pro, Pro Max, and the slim iPhone Air. Powered by the A19 chip, the phones feature a 48MP Fusion camera, ProMotion displays, and new colour options, including the much-talked-about orange variant.
Prices in India start at ₹82,900 and go up to ₹2,29,900, depending on the model and storage. Alongside the devices, Apple also rolled out iOS 26 globally, introducing a “Liquid Glass” interface, adaptive power modes, and Apple Intelligence features. However, some users reported temporary battery drain and camera glitches. Apple has already issued a revised iOS 26 build for iPhone 17 Pro models and announced an upcoming patch, iOS 26.0.1, to address these issues.

Offers and Reviews
To boost sales, Apple distributors and retail partners have launched attractive offers. Ingram Micro is offering up to ₹6,000 cashback, no-cost EMI options, and additional exchange bonuses of up to ₹7,000 on eligible devices.
While early users are impressed with the camera quality, smoother app transitions, and design changes, some remain divided on durability and whether the upgrades justify the high price tag. Still, the overwhelming response at stores across India shows that the iPhone 17 launch has struck the right chord with Apple fans.
